No one priced out

If $49 is out of reach right now, it's on us.

Email wecare@caringdictate.comno questions asked — and we'll send you a free copy.

We mean it literally. You don't have to explain your situation, prove anything, or fill out a form. If the price is a wall between you and being able to type again, the price comes down. This started with a dad who has a muscle disease that makes typing hard — leaving people like him out was never the point.

We can do this because the people who can pay $49 once make it possible. Thank you for being one of them.

One-time vs subscription

Two ways of paying, and what each one gets you.

Dictation software is sold both ways. Neither model is the right answer for everyone, and which suits you depends far more on what you need the software to do than on the pricing.

A subscription

You pay monthly or yearly, and in return the product keeps changing — new features arrive, models get updated, and anything that runs on the vendor's servers keeps running. That server side is usually why the subscription exists: cloud recognition, AI rewriting, meeting transcription and syncing all cost the vendor money every month, so they charge every month. Most subscription tools also have a free plan, so you can use them without paying at all if your usage fits inside it.

A one-time purchase

You pay once and keep the version you bought. Updates within that version line are included for a defined period rather than indefinitely, and a future major version may be a separate purchase. This model suits software that runs entirely on your own computer, because there is no server bill to cover each month. It is how CaringDictate is sold, and how Dragon Professional is sold.

We are not going to publish a table projecting other companies' prices into the future — prices change, vendors run discounts and regional pricing, and free plans cover more people than you would think. Check each vendor's own website for what is actually available to you today, and try the free options built into Windows and macOS before paying anyone, including us.

30-day refund

If it doesn't help inside thirty days, we refund you.

The refund policy exists for a real reason. Voice dictation works beautifully for most people — but not everyone. Heavy accents, very quiet voices, or specific hearing-aid microphones can all knock accuracy below where it needs to be. We do not want anyone stuck with software that doesn't serve them.

  • Email hello@caringdictate.com within 30 days.
  • We refund the full $49 — no forms, no exit survey, no friction.
  • Refund posts back to the same card within 5 business days.

Pricing FAQ

Common questions about the $49 price.

The short answers are below. If something else is on your mind, just email us — we answer fast.

Why $49 and not more?

Because we're not trying to make the maximum amount per customer — we're trying to be the dictation app that's actually affordable for the people who need it most. $49 covers our costs, lets us keep the lights on, and leaves enough room that we feel right about the price.

Why $49 and not less (or free)?

Building and supporting software costs money, and charging for it is the most straightforward way to cover that without advertising or selling data. $49 once is what we settled on. If it is not affordable for you, email wecare@caringdictate.com and we will send you a copy — that is funded by the people who do pay.

What if I lose my license key or change computers?

Email us with the email address you used to buy CaringDictate and we will send you the key. Your license covers up to three of your own computers. If you replace one, we will reactivate the new one — no extra cost.

Are there any hidden fees, add-ons, or premium tiers?

No. There is no Pro tier, no Family Pack, no premium voice pack. The $49 you pay is everything we sell. We are not building toward an upsell.

Do I have to pay again for new versions?

No. Free updates are part of the price — every 3.x feature update is included, with at least 24 months of updates guaranteed from your purchase, plus security fixes beyond that. When we ship a new version with better accuracy or a new feature, your existing license picks it up automatically.

How does the 30-day refund work?

Email hello@caringdictate.com inside 30 days of purchase. We will refund the full $49 — no forms, no exit survey, no "are you sure?" loop. The policy exists so that deciding against us is easy.
